Created through the ongoing collaboration between basketry designer Esmé Hofman and designer Amandine David, the Sea Lilies series brings traditional weaving into dialogue with blue stone. Woven around reclaimed stone fragments, each piece reveals the stone’s ancient story: blue stone is formed from fossilised crinoids, once-living marine animals known as “sea lilies.” Their traces echo the woven fibres—materials that, like much of our organic past, can fade and disappear over time.
Together, stone and basketry invite us to reflect on transformation, memory, and the histories held within materials.
